Born De’Meatrice Shawn’te Ma’Gee aka “Dee Dee Hodges” in Los Angeles, California she began singing at the tender age of five years old. Extremely active as a youth “Dee Dee” excelled in basketball, volleyball, track, weight lifting, and was also an academic standout who regularly achieved honor roll status. A veteran of countless singing organizations “Dee Dee” has used her amazing talent to bolster several gospel choirs such as “Village Baptist Church” in Compton, “Agape Community Church” in Lancaster, and “Greater New Salem Baptist Church” in Los Angeles, California to name a few.

The daughter of highly respected minister Denise G. Davis and Gregory Keith Ma’Gee are the noble souls that majorly helped to mold “Dee Dee” into the well rounded Christian woman she is today. While both singing and playing sports consumed the majority of her teen years “Dee Dee” found the opportunity to travel the world via the United States Army to strong a temptation to resist prompting her to enlist in the military directly after graduating from Antelope Valley High School. Traveling the world courtesy of “Uncle Sam” enabled her ample time to figure out what she really wanted to do with her life. Never one to sit idle and taught to take full advantage of all opportunities given is why she performed routinely at numerous army bases stateside & abroad, churches, and concert venues throughout her tours of duty. As fate would have it “Dee Dee’s” military career would be cut short after serving ten years on active duty due to medical issues allowing for her first love of being a full time Gospel singer to become a reality.

If ever an artist exemplified the heart & soul of Gospel music it would be the incomparable “Dee Dee Hodges” who to date has performed over 500 times at a plethora of events to include “Bobby Jones Presents” in New Orleans, Louisiana, opening for Dorothy Norwood in Fort Worth, Texas, and garnering the lead role in the hit play “Birth Day of a King” in Wasilla, Alaska.

The consummate entertainer “Dee Dee’s” remarkable ability to connect with audiences of all ages, ethnicities, and social classes marks the arrival of a one of a kind talent favored by God and anointed to sing his praises. Happily married with a beautiful ten year old daughter and finishing up her ministerial studies at Berean College is the life of a true humanitarian who has also earned an Associate’s Degree in nursing.
